In Audacity, what are the input and output options for the mixer? Direct or going through the sound control panel? Make sure you have the sound control panel settings right. In Audacity make sure that your sound engine is set right. Some of the problem might be in using the interface for input and the built-in for output. Any usb or firewire interface, including those mixers as well as usb mics are soundcards you computer likely also has a built-in sound-card. Other daws I don’t think would have a problem with this, however audacity is not a true daw.Īudacit can be a bit unstable with managing different soundcards, especially if any interrupt happens while running (like disconnecting and reconnecting). If the Behringer is still selected as an Input source for the previously recorded track, then it may not allow you to select it as the source for the second track. I don’t know how audacity works, buy you may only be able to record one source at a time. On the track you have previously recorded try changing the track from the behringer to no input source. My problem is after I add a new track to an Audacity file, and try to record to the new track, I get the error messages as described above.

Do make sure you have the correct drivers installed, although some devices are class-compliant and should work out of the box. The driver is essentially a small background program that enables you to communicate correctly with your hardware device (X2222USB in this case).
